Voters flood precincts in record numbers
February 6, 2008
San Mateo County -
In a historic presidential primary, record numbers of San Mateo County voters lined up for the polls on Super Tuesday.
Seventy-one percent of the the county’s 357,075 registered voters were expected to cast ballots, according to Elections Manager David Tom.
The turnout was expected to surpass that of the 2004 presidential election, when 288,533 ballots — 78.3 percent of registered voters — were cast. The flood of voters may mean a record waiting time for results.
