Portola Valley: residents must register to vote in school district election

PORTOLA VALLEY (BCN)

The San Mateo County Elections Office is reminding residents in the Portola Valley Elementary School District that they need to register to vote before the May 6 special election.

The election is being held to fill a vacant seat in the school district office, according to the elections department. It will be a mail-in election, and residents must register by Monday to be eligible to vote.

Two candidates have registered for the open position, physician David Morris and consultant Bill Youstra.

Voter registration cards can be found at the elections office, as well as any public library, City Hall, post office or California Department of Motor Vehicles. Any registration card postmarked on or before Monday will be accepted.

"We encourage residents in the Portola Valley Elementary School District to register if they haven't done so and to participate in the special all mail election," Chief Elections Officer Warren Slocum said in a statement.
