SAN MATEO CO.: FRIDAY IS DEADLINE TO FILE PAPERS TO RUN FOR OFFICE
San Mateo County residents who intend to run for office in the June 5 primary election must file their paperwork by Friday, the elections office announced today.
To qualify for placement on the ballot candidates must file all required nomination forms before 5 p.m., according to the elections office. All offices except for county committees and councils require a filing fee, which also must be paid by 5 p.m.
As of Tuesday, nearly 80 people had filed initial paperwork for placement on the ballot, according to the elections office.
"We are always busy at the deadline, and we are excited to see so many voters step forward to serve their community by running for office," Chief Elections Officer Warren Slocum said.
