Contact: Alternate: Write-In Candidate Filing Period Open for candidates seeking offices appearing on the June 3 Statewide Direct Primary Election Redwood City, CA –Warren Slocum, San Mateo County’s Chief Elections Officer, announced today that the filing period for write-in candidates for offices appearing on the June 3, 2008 ballot is open. Eligible persons desiring to declare write-in candidacy for federal, state, and local offices may file nomination documents with the Elections Office at 40 Tower Road, San Mateo, until Those interested in becoming a write-in candidate for elective city offices must file their nomination documents with the City Clerk within the same time frame. A write-in candidacy is available for the June Statewide Direct Primary Election in the Town of Atherton. Write-in candidates must be voters in the district or political subdivision in which they are to be voted on except for federal offices. No fee or charge shall be required of a write-in candidate except in the case of a candidate for city office, as provided in Section 10228 of the California Election Code. |
