Avoid the Election Day Tsunami - Vote Sat. Feb. 2, Vote Mon. Feb. 4

Redwood City, CA – To date, the Elections Office has received 60,081 voted mail ballots; that represents 38% of the total number of requested Vote by Mail ballots that were issued. That means there could be up to 97,753 voters holding ballots that must be received by 8:00 pm on Feb. 5 if their vote is to count (some of these will arrive in the mail today and Monday).

“It seems that some voters haven’t made up their mind as to who they want to vote for -- they’re still watching, listening and considering their choices,” said Warren Slocum, Chief Elections Officer of San Mateo County. “It’s completely understandable, it’s an important decision that we are making,” Slocum said.

Slocum also urged voters to avoid the crush of Election Day voting. “Don’t wait! Save yourself the time in line and skip the search for parking! Turnout on Tuesday will be tremendous! Come in and vote on Saturday or Monday. We’ll be open!”

On Saturday, Feb. 2, voters can drop off their voted mail ballot or vote in person at the Elections Offices located at 40 Tower Road in San Mateo and 555 County Center, 1st Floor, in Redwood City between the hours of 10:00 am and 3:00 pm.

Voters can also drop off their voted ballot at any City Hall (during business hours) on Mon., Feb. 4, or vote in person at either one of the Elections Offices located at 40 Tower Road in San Mateo or 555 County Center in Redwood City on the 1st floor.

The polls will be open on Election Day, Feb. 5, between the hours of 7:00 am and 8:00 pm. Vote by Mail voters who haven’t already mailed in their ballots are welcome to join their fellow precinct voters and vote at the polls or drop off their voted mail ballots at the polls or the Elections Offices during these hours.
