Candidate Filing Extension Ends Today
Some last minute changes and additions to local races

(Redwood City, CA) Chief Elections Officer Warren Slocum announced today that the extended nomination period ended today at 5:00 p.m. for those contests where the incumbent failed to file or did not qualify during the regular period. The regular candidate filing period closed on August 10th. The districts where the filing period was extended included:

School Districts (11 of 14 total)
Belmont-Redwood Shores School District
Burlingame School District
Hillsborough City School District
Jefferson Elementary School District
Millbrae School District
Portola Valley Elementary School District
Redwood City School District
San Carlos School District
San Mateo Union High School District
San Mateo-Foster City School District
Woodside Elementary School District             

Special Districts (6 of 19 total)
Granada Sanitary District
Half Moon Bay Fire Protection District
Ladera Recreation District
Los Trancos County Water District
MidCoast Community Council
Point Montara Fire District

A few candidates took advantage of the deadline extension to file for office, submit a candidate statement, or withdraw their candidacy. The official roster of candidates that will appear on the November 6, 2007 Consolidated Municipal, School and Special District Election is available on www.shapethefuture.org . It is updated every evening.

As for the 13 cities in San Mateo County that have municipal races scheduled in the
November 6, 2007 Election, please contact the City Clerk for each jurisdiction to find out if they have extended filing periods. City Clerks are the official filing officers for city council candidates and other elected city officials.
