Contact: lternate: Candidate Filing Period Extended Until August 15 (Redwood City, CA) Chief Elections Officer Warren Slocum announced today that the nomination period is extended for certain offices set to appear on the November 6, 2007 ballot. State law provides an extension period of five calendar days if an incumbent fails to file or does not qualify during the regular filing period which closed on August 10th. Of the 14 School Districts and 19 Special Districts that are scheduled to participate in the November 6, 2007 Election, the following districts have extended filing periods because an incumbent did not file to run for re-election or did not qualify to run during the filing period: School Districts (11 of 14 have extended candidate filing periods) Belmont-Redwood Shores School District Special Districts (6 of 19 have extended candidate filing periods) Granada Sanitary District For the 13 cities in San Mateo County that have municipal races scheduled in the November 6, 2007 Election, please contact the City Clerk for each jurisdiction to find out if they have extended filing periods. City Clerks are the official filing officers for city council candidates and other elected city officials.
