Contact: lternate: Voting Officially Opens Monday (Redwood City) –“Voting officially opens Monday, February 5th, for the voters of the Las Lomitas Elementary School District who will be deciding the fate of a parcel tax to support local schools,” according to Warren Slocum, Chief Elections Officer for the County of San Mateo. There are 7,707 voters in the Las Lomitas Elementary School District with students whose addresses can be Menlo Park, Atherton, Woodside and Portola Valley. The measure requires a 2/3 vote threshold to pass. Sample ballots which contain the full text of the measure, the impartial analysis and the argument that was submitted in favor of the measure were mailed to the voters on January 26th. . Permanent Absentee voters may post their voted ballots in the mail, or drop their voted ballots off during regular business hours at one of four locations: 1) Menlo Park City Hall, 2) the Atherton Town Hall, the main Elections Office located at 40 Tower Road in San Mateo or the satellite Elections Office located on the first floor at 555 County Center in Redwood City. On Election Day, March 6th, there will be 11 precincts staffed by 44 poll workers. The polls will be open from 7:00am – 8:00 pm and will feature the new electronic eSlate voting equipment. “While the majority of the votes cast at the polls will be cast on electronic ballots,” Slocum said, “voters will still have the option to vote a paper ballot.” |
