Running for office? This workshop's for you By Connie Skipitares - Mercury News An informational workshop for anyone considering a run for public office in June will be held Wednesday night in Redwood City. "The Mechanics of Running for Public Office'' will offer advice and information for potential candidates and answer questions to anyone interested in the election process, said San Mateo County's Chief Elections Officer Warren Slocum. " There are some important issues that candidates must consider before throwing their hat in the ring, and our candidate seminars help demystify the process and facilitate more interest in running for office,'' Slocum added. Topics covered will include campaign finance reports, the filing process, candidate statements, important deadlines, voter registration, absentee voting and elections rules and regulations governing campaign activities. Wednesday's workshop will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at 555 County Center, 3rd Floor. Another seminar is planned for 10 a.m. Feb. 18 at the Elections Office, 40 Tower Road.
