Elections Office eSlate Demonstrations in San Mateo County

The County continues to educate voters on the new eSlate electronic voting system Next week the San Mateo County Elections Office will give demonstrations of the new voting equipment at events all over the county in a continued effort to educate voters on the new eSlate electronic voting system.

This November, voters will have the option of voting an electronic or a paper ballot on Election Day. While the County is converting to electronic voting, most voters will vote a paper ballot this November. Next year, in a series of smaller local elections, electronic voting will be fully introduced.

A voter education campaign, aimed at educating the 350,000 (+) voters in the county on the eSlate electronic voting system, is in full swing. The Elections Outreach Team is giving demonstrations every day of the week (any time, anywhere) in the remaining 40 days before the election in different locations throughout the county. “I want to encourage groups to introduce their members and give them a chance to learn how to use it before the election,” said San Mateo County Chief Elections Officer Warren Slocum.

To schedule a demonstration for your community group, go online to the eSlate Learning Center at www.shapethefuture.org, email vote2006@smcare.org, or call Jackie Coates at (650) 363-1884.
