Ribbon-Cutting Opens Universal Voting Center in East Palo Alto (one of nine in the County)
May 22nd Last Day to Register to Vote for the June 6th Primary

Voters with Disabilities, including the Vice President of the San Mateo County Council of the Blind, Frank Welte, will cast a ballot on the new, accessible e-Slate voting equipment. This occasion marks the first time in American history that voters with disabilities are provided the opportunity to a secret and independent vote due to the passage of the Help America Vote Act

California Secretary of State Bruce McPherson, San Mateo County Chief Elections Officer Warren Slocum, Hon. Supervisor Rose Jacobs Gibson, and leaders and members of the various disabilities groups, local community organizations from East Palo Alto and the county.

BACKGROUND:
Firsts for San Mateo County!

San Mateo County opens nine regionally based Universal Voting Sites for a two-week period prior to the election to serve all voters. The Universal Voting Centers will feature the e-Slate accessible voting machines as required by the Help America Vote Act.

Any voter, from anywhere in the county, can come and vote, beginning Monday, on the accessible e-Slate voting machines or drop off their voted absentee ballot.
