Countdown to Close of Candidate Filing

Just five days remain to file to run for office. Some offices may be extended.

REDWOOD CITY, CA— With the March 10 deadline to file for office looming, San Mateo County Chief Elections Officer, Warren Slocum, issued a final call to candidates in San Mateo County to file and complete the required paperwork to appear on the June 6th ballot.

“Don’t get left out in the cold,” warned Slocum. “All required paperwork must be filed by March 10 at 5pm, our elections staff is here to answer your questions and help you navigate through the requirements and regulations – but don’t wait until the last minute!” To make an appointment or obtain information, prospective candidates may call (650) 312-5370 and ask for Mark Numainville, the Candidate Filing Officer.

If an eligible incumbent does not file to run for re-election by 5:00 p.m. on March 10, the period is extended and candidates (except incumbents) will have until 5:00 P.M. on March 15, 2006, to complete the filing requirements for that office.

A roster of candidates that have filed to run is available on the Elections Division web site www.shapethefuture.org .

The offices on the ballot in June include federal legislative offices, state constitutional offices, state legislative offices, partisan central committees, Superior Court Judge, and countywide offices.
