Election Season Arrives

San Mateo County Elections Office posts important information for candidates on the new shapethefuture.org home page.

REDWOOD CITY, CA – The opening of Candidate Filing for the June 6th Primary Election is just around the corner and the San Mateo County Elections Office is updating its web site, www.shapethefuture.org, with essential information for those seeking office. "Political hibernation is over,” declared Warren Slocum, San Mateo County’s Chief Elections Official. “Election season is here and candidates can look to our office for all the most important election information available.” Slocum continued.

Candidates can peruse the June 2006 Candidate Handbook & Resource Guide, the Agenda for upcoming Candidate Seminars, and the all important Election Calendar. Information on data services, voter registration, absentee ballots, and election laws and regulations is also available. “Our Shape the Future web site is a candidate’s best friend. I encourage all prospective candidates to utilize this valuable tool throughout their campaign,” said Slocum.

The candidate filing period opens February 13th and closes on March 10th. The Elections Division will host a seminar for candidates and their key staff, “The Mechanics of Running for Public Office,” on February 8th and February 18th.
