Calling All Candidates San Mateo County Elections Office Sponsors Candidate Seminars for Potential Candidates.
(Redwood City, CA)— The San Mateo County Elections Office will hold a workshop, entitled “The Mechanics of Running for Public Office,” for all potential candidates considering a run for office in November of 2005. This informative seminar will be held on Wednesday, June 29th from 6:00 – 7:30 pm at the Elections Office at 40 Tower Road in San Mateo. “This is an opportunity for any candidate interested in running for office, or any voter simply interested in the election process, to meet with key elections staff and get answers to questions about the rules, deadlines, and procedures that apply to local candidates and campaigns,” said Chief Elections Officer, Warren Slocum. “There are some important issues that candidates must consider before throwing their hat in the ring, and our Candidate Seminars help demystify the process and facilitate more interest in running for office.” Additional information can be found on the Elections’ website, www.shapethefuture.org. To RSVP for the seminar, attendees may contact Mark Numainville, the Candidate Filing Officer, at 650.312.5370 or e-mail mnumainville@smcare.org with their name, the office they are seeking, and the number of persons in their party. The topics covered will include campaign finance reports, the filing process, candidate statements, important deadlines, voter registration, absentee voting, and various elections rules and regulations governing campaign activities. Candidates who are unable to attend the June 29 need not worry. Identical seminars are also planned for Saturday, July 9th at 10:00 a.m., and Thursday, July 28th at 6:00 p.m. All seminars will be held at the Elections Office at 40 Tower Road. The jurisdictions with candidate elections scheduled for the November 8, 2005 ballot include 14 School Districts, 19 Special Districts, and 13 Cities in San Mateo County.
