A FLOOD OF MAIL TO HIT REDWOOD CITY MAILBOXES
Redwood City School District Special Election Materials will be mailed on Monday, April 4th

Redwood City, CA - "The nearly 45,000 voters in the Redwood City School District will begin receiving their election materials next week for the May 3rd Special Election," said Warren Slocum, Chief Elections Officer for the County of San Mateo. All voters will receive the sample ballot with the text of the measure, the official ballot, the Top Ten Questions on the Redwood City School District All-Mail Election, and a postage-paid return envelope that they can use to mail their voted ballot back to the Elections Office.

"Keep a lookout for the election materials in your mailbox!" said Slocum.

"Voters can literally mark their ballots and mail them back (in the postage-paid envelope) on the same day," said Slocum. "There is no waiting! The law allows voters to vote anytime during the 29-day period that precedes the election."

All-mail elections are rare in this County’s history. However, voting by mail has become exponentially more popular each election, explained Slocum. “Holding an all-mail election is actually easier to conduct because there is no polling operation to organize and the voting process is identical to that of the absentee voting process which is done for every election anyway."

"I’d like to encourage everyone to vote early!" said Slocum. "It will lessen the chances that a ballot gets misplaced. It’s much easier to vote early and mail it back right away. Doing so could save a voter the needless hassle of getting a replacement ballot."

That said, if a ballot is misplaced, spoiled, or accidentally discarded, voters may obtain a replacement ballot by mailing or faxing a written request to the Elections Division with their name, mailing address, residence address, date of birth, and signature.
