Three local jurisdictions place measures on the March 8, 2005 ballot.
Primary Arguments For and Against must be submitted by December 17, 2004
Redwood City, CA – Just days after certifying the results for the record-setting November 2004 Presidential Election, Elections Officials in San Mateo County were hard at work preparing for the upcoming special election on March 8, 2005 . Warren Slocum , San Mateo County ’s Chief Elections Officer, declared that three jurisdictions had submitted resolutions to the County requesting election services by the December 10 th deadline. “This is par for the course in the world of elections,” Slocum said, “The wheels of democracy never stop turning.”
The jurisdictions that have placed measures on the March 2005 ballot are the Town of Atherton , the City of San Carlos , and the Brisbane School District .
The first major deadline for the March 8, 2005 election is the submission of Primary Arguments For and Against Ballot Measures. Arguments must be submitted by 5:00 p.m. on December 17, 2004 . Arguments regarding the Atherton and San Carlos measures must be filed with the City Clerk of that city and arguments regarding the Brisbane School District measure must be filed with the County Elections Office at 40 Tower Road in San Mateo.
Slocum also announced that the 10-calendar-day public review period set by law to allow voters to review information submitted to the County of San Mateo to be printed in the voter information pamphlet at the March 8, 2005 Special Election began Friday, December 10 th at 5:00 p.m. for all documents filed as of the 88th day prior to the scheduled election. This review period will end Monday, December 20, 2004 at 5:00 p.m.
