Redwood City, CA - San Mateo County's Chief Elections Officer, Warren Slocum, announced today that steady increases in new voter registrations and absentee ballot requests reflect the interest among San Mateo County voters in the upcoming election. “With over 100,000 requests for absentee ballots and a growing voter registration list, we are hopeful that these indicators translate to a high voter turnout.”
Applications to vote by mail will continue to be accepted by mail or fax through Tuesday, October 26. After that date, absentee ballots must be picked up in person at the 40 Tower Road Elections Office in San Mateo or at 555 County Center in Redwood City. Voter registration for the General Election will close on Monday, October 18; voters can pick up a voter registration form at the Tower Road office, County Center office, or any city hall, public library, and post office. Absentee ballots requests can be made online at www.shapethefuture.org.
To facilitate voter registration, Slocum has extended the hours at his offices at 40 Tower Road in San Mateo and 555 County Center, 1 st Floor in Redwood City. On Monday, October 18, both offices will be open until 8:00 p.m. to receive affidavits of registration.
