Absentee Ballot Requests By Mail To End Soon

Redwood City CA - San Mateo County's Chief Elections Officer, Warren Slocum , is reminding voters that the last day to request an absentee ballot by mail is this coming Tuesday, February 24. His office must receive the mailed, faxed, or online (www.shapethefuture.org) request from the voter on that day.

To make voting easier, Slocum is keeping his Elections Office at 40 Tower Road in San Mateo open for the next two consecutive Saturday's, February 21 and 28, from 10:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. to assist those who missed the deadline for requesting a ballot by mail.

"Many voters have busy working schedules and can't make it to either of our offices during business hours." said Slocum, "We have provided this service for a few years with a great deal of positive feedback from the voters."

The trend towards voting by mail continues to be on the upswing as evidenced by the 83,051 absentee ballots issued thus far, compared to 64,930 absentee ballots issued in the previous Presidential Primary 4 years ago.

Voters can still obtain an absentee ballot in person Monday through Friday, from Wednesday February 25 through Election Day, March 2, at the main Election Office as well as 555 County Center, Slocum's downtown Redwood City office.

For more information on registering to vote, applying for an absentee ballot, becoming a poll worker or about elections in general, visit www.shapethefuture.org or call (650) 312-5222.
