Poll Worker Opportunities

Behind every election are thousands of people who ensure a smooth and proper operation at the polling places. Their efforts play a vital part in making democracy work. San Mateo County needs Election Officers in order to continue providing the more than 350,000 registered voters the opportunity to vote at neighborhood precincts throughout the County.

The County of San Mateo is now accepting applications from energetic, qualified people to volunteer as Election Officers at the precincts.  Depending on your assignment, the stipend ranges from $100.00 to $125.00 for the day, plus $25.00 for the time you spend in training class, if you serve on Election Day. Among your duties will be voter sign-in and ballot distribution. Join the more than 2,000 Election Officers we recruit and train for countywide elections.

This trusted position is ideal for anyone who would like to get a first-hand look at how our system works, and provide neighbors their opportunity to vote. Many Election Officers serve year after year for the experience of being an integral part of the election process. All registered voters are welcome to join the team. Polling Place Rental Opportunities

You can play a bigger role in your community by renting out your home garage, clubhouse, hall, or any other facility suitable as a polling place on election day. Your space will help bring the polls closer to the citizens in your community, giving them a nearby, accessible location to cast their ballot.
