View live webcam footage of our secure tally room at the Elections Office on Tower Road in San Mateo, where the counting of live votes takes place.

After the polls close on Election Night, Mobile Ballot Boxes (MBBs), which contain each precinct's electronic vote totals, are brought from receiving stations to the Elections Office. After inspection for tampering, MBBs are transferred to our secure tally room. In the tally room, MBBs from the county's 448 precincts are read by an electronic reader and the votes are downloaded to a database. Once the votes are tallied and the reports are proofed, the semi-official results are uploaded to our Web site.
