Candidate Guide for the June 3 Statewide Direct Primary Election
The Candidate Guide is a comprehensive overview of the rules and requirements for filing and
running for office. There's a handy filing checklist, a detailed election calendar, a list of offices
that will appear on the June ballot, candidate qualifications, an explanation of the nomination
documents and filing procedures, information from SmartVoter, campaign disclosure information,
an explanation of the available voter file data formats, including precinct maps and how to
request them and more.
Candidate Roster
The Candidate Roster is a complete list of all the candidates who have filed to run for a
particular office in this election. Candidate filing closed March 7.
March 13, 2008 - Random Alpha Drawing
In accordance with Elections Code section 13112, the Secretary of State's office on this date conducted a drawing to the letters of the alphabet to determine the randomized alphabet for use in the June 3, 2008 Statewide Direct Primary Election.

the threshold required for passage.

Register to Vote
The deadline to register to vote is 15 days prior to an election to be eligible to vote. May 19th
is the deadline to register to vote in the June 3 Statewide Direct Primary Election. Voters can
register or re-register to vote at any time.
Voters that move, change their name (any part of their name), or wish to change their party
affiliation must re-register by the registration deadline. It's the same form, the same
process and the form is postage-paid.
